Toronto Central Academy is a private high school inspected by the Ministry of Education, Ontario, Canada. The school was founded in 1997 by the well-known educator George Vanderkuur. The school pursues the concept of personalized goal-oriented education, which aims to maximize the potential of students and help them successfully attend their ideal university.
At its core the school applies a comprehensive expertise in education with teaching research as the foundation, modern information technology as the support, each individual student as the object, precise planning as the guidance, and meticulous implementation as the means. After more than 20 years of exploration and practice, we have created a high quality, efficient teaching system, as evidenced by the school's 24th ranking in Canada in the 2019 Canadian Open Mathematics, and the 38th ranking in the 2017 University of Waterloo Euclid Mathematics Competition. Our students are taught by highly qualified teachers who provide them with the preparation that has resulted in a high acceptance rate by Canadian universities. The school has more than 200 graduates every year with 100% of graduates accepted by their ideal university.
The school pays attention to scientific research, constantly exploring educational methods and teaching practice, and applies the research results to daily teaching in a timely manner. The transitional education research team is led by Paul P. who is our Director of Education and a distinguished transitional education expert. Based on in-depth research on the transitional characteristics of international students, the school created the "international student transitional education teaching method." The ESL education research team is led by James R. who is our school's language education expert and IELTS examiner. Based on studying and analyzing many years of ESL teaching experience, James's team has published more than 50 ESL textbooks which are used by more than 60 language schools and institutions. The technical education research team led by the senior programmer Fan Wu who has made possible the creation of a cloud platform-based LMS online learning system. A high-tech "borderless classroom software and hardware integrated system" is developed by our school and has been recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and the University of Toronto.
The school focuses on inter-school exchanges and is actively expanding its international influence. The University of Toronto established the Paul Pu Education Leadership Scholarship in the name of the Director of Education of our school, and the University of Waterloo established the George Vanderkuur Scholarship in the name of the Principal of our school. Initiated by our school and jointly organized by the University of Waterloo and Brock University, the Global Youth COVID19 Challenge 2020 and the Global Youth World Peace Challenge 2021 ( essay and speech competitions) have received extensive international attention with adjudication by representatives from Yale University, University of Toronto, and Queens University.
In order to serve younger international students more effectively, the students established the Erindale Elite Campus. The Erindale campus provides on-campus accommodation, which can better serve younger international students. The campus is located in the Mississauga community of the University of Toronto where Students may enjoy the existing facilities of the University of Toronto, feel the strong academic atmosphere, and get a glimpse of university life in advance.
